Player Profiles for the 2008 - 2009 Season
Martyn Phillips
A goalkeeper with great ability, will be a great asset to the club, is a great shot stopper, is young and can go a long way in the game.
Kurt Rogers
A resident of Cwmaman but Signed this year from local rivals ENTO Aberaman. Kurt is only 17 but has tremendous potential to be a great goalkeeper he is over 6ft tall and the club is very pleased he has joined us.
Damian Jones
The grand old man of the side who has played at every level for the club. Has taken on the role of General Secretary this year. Cwmaman was in Division 2 of the Amateur League when Damian became a regular, and our recent success is a reward for Damian’s loyalty. A club Life Member in the making?
Tim Owens
Joined the club in the summer of 2006, having previously played for Abercwmboi, where he still lives. Tim was one of the club’s first signings after the upheaval of 2006. Made the step up from Amateur League Second Division to become a champion in his first, and only, season in Division 1 of that league. The centre back turned 24 during the summer.
Michael Oliver
Mike won Player of the Year last season and deservedly so, will always get you goals from his midfield role. In his 3rd season with the club, Mike is a great club man who gives 100% every game.
Scott Carson
Unsung hero of Cwmaman’s midfield. Scott missed a lot of last season through injury so he will be biting at the bit to get started this year. Does the donkey work enabling the playmakers around him to add the gloss. Hardly prolific, but notches the odd goal here and there. A home grown talent, played all his football for Cwmaman.
David Airey
Played all his football at Cwmaman, from juniors through to seniors. A striker who will always get you goals, has a tremendous work rate and a player who gives his all for Cwmaman.
Leighton Price
Player-manager, in his 3rd season in the role. A wealth of experience at Amateur League and Welsh League level. A product of Cwmaman’s youth set up who has also played for ENTO Aberaman.
Matthew Cable
Central defender, with a wealth of experience at WL and LoW level. Rejoined the club with the intention of seeing out his playing career at local league level but, frankly, is wasted there. Ebbw Vale and Carmarthen, where he played alongside Mark Delaney, are amongst his former clubs.
Craig Lewis
Experienced midfielder who is rebuilding his career following a serious injury. A fully fit “Modgy” will be a tremendous addition to the squad. Previously played for Aberaman.
Shaun Chappell
A local lad who had a brief spell with the club last season. A midfield player who can pass the ball and make his mark on the game. A lot is expected of Shaun, if fully fit he could have a major influence on the Cwmaman team.
Scott Woodford
A local lad who joined the club last season to play for our Youth team, has great presence, very pacey and strong in the air. Only 18 but can be a great asset to the team, can play central defence or full back.
Daniel Johnson
Another young player who joined the club to play for our Youth team, has great commitment, very versatile can play in several positions. Has a great future with the club.
Chris Banfield
Aberdare League Player of the Year last season, Chris has shown he can score goals by being the top goals scorer in the second team last season. He can play up front or wide midfield.
Rhys Howe
Another player who has lots of ability, but has yet to prove it at the top level. Has a great left foot and can play at full back or wide midfield. He could be another player who could surprise everyone and cement his place in the team.
Geraint Davies
Taffo has shown a lot of loyalty to Cwmaman, a great club man always gives 100%. Will chip in with a goal or two from set pieces, a great defender who puts his body on the line for the club
Leigh Davies
A product of the clubs youth policy, Leigh has the ability to control games, has a great engine. If he continues to progress he will be part of the First team for many years to come.
Gary Owen
Signed for the club from local team Abernant. A defender who can play across the line in several positions. Will be a great asset to the club, has great determination and commitment.
Jack Howe
Another player to come up through the junior teams, Jack has tremendous ability and will go a long way. Has great pace, can play in several positions and has a wonderful left foot.
Corey Hollidge
Signed from ENTO Aberaman, A midfield player who can adapt and play in several positions. Another player with great commitment who will be a big asset to the club
Richard Williams
Also signed from ENTO Aberaman, a gifted midfield player, has great vision and ability to pass the ball. Only 17 but will be looking to cement his place in the first team.
Ross Williams
Ross has retuned to the club after living away for 8 years. A former Welsh Schoolboy International, he can cause defences havoc and score goals. We all hope Ross can get fully fit and have a big influence on Cwmaman’s season.
